Project Description
For this project we got to make a OP-ED about global issues around the world. Once you picked a topic to research and and find a way to argue about your topic. Before this project we got to learn about some background information on what this word "Globalization" meant and what this project was going to be about. For my Op-Ed I choose to do GMOs and why they are not a good thing. After you went really in depth with your research then you were able to start making it into Op-Ed form. Once you got that done and it was the best it could be then you were able to move on to making your art piece of this project. For the art piece of this project you had to be able to explain your art in a visual way so that it would catch your audience eye and draw them to your art piece and your Op-Ed so that they would be able to see what you have been working on and be able to read your Op-Ed to get some knowledge on this topic "Globalization".
take-aways and enduring understandings
Once I finished this project I had a new and deeper understanding on what globalization meant. During this project I thought that globalization was just another problem that the world had, but now that I have been able to do in depth research on all of the topics that has happened and what happens to the people that get huge impact on it. I have found out that there are problems out there in the world that the people have not heard about, and should know about. While doing this project it has helped me with my research skills and writing skills. It was also improved on my knowledge about the word globalization and the true meaning of it.
the writing
After looking back on the three drafts of my Op-Ed I have seen how much it has improved. I saw that I had a lot of spelling errors in my first draft and that there were multiply ideas and information that was not in the right place and made no sense. But by my second draft it had improved and the ideas were a bit more clear and made more sense but they still could be improved and same for the spelling errors. Now looking at the final draft it was a lot better and looked more professional compared to the last two. I could use this in the future by writing more Op-Eds in different classes or just knowing how to do the type of research and writing style. This was different to many things that I have down in the past because for this Op-Ed you really just stayed on topic through out the whole paper and kept it short and consistent compared to a essay.
the art
For the art piece of this project I was really excited to do because you don`t really get to make political cartoons everyday. But by doing this type of art I had to go through many steps to make it the best it could be and it was really helpful learning what had to be in the cartoon to be able to make professional and correct. Looking at my first draft it was a rough sketch on what I had in mind and it was really helpful to get feedback. For my second draft it was a lot more clear on what I was trying to say and just by constantly getting feedback it kept making it better. I could incorporate this process in projects for the future by taking the same steps that I did and use it in many different projects that will be open to me, such as art class or possibly a job. Being able to express my ideas visually really worked out for me because I like to learn with art and getting feedback and this really had a huge impact on the way that I was going to learn about this project because I was able to draw what I was trying to say in my Op-Ed.
