Snow Science Reflection:
Snow science was relevant to my life because I`m a skier and it was nice to know how to or what to do about avalanches and to learn how to make sure that I don't cause an avalanche and what to look out for. This project was very interesting and was a pretty good one because we got to know how snow flakes form, slope angles, snow surface, and how to read graphs and weather
What I understand about the role snow and water play in the American West is that the water and snow is very important to the american west because its the way they live like they need the water to be able to grow their crops or they need it so that their farm animals can drink the stream and the why they get energy. Water and snow are very two important things in the world and we need it so that we can keep on living on.
A skill that I develop through engaging this material was collaboration and I said collaboration because when we had to do some of these snow projects I worked with different people and it was good for me because I got to collaborate with my partners about what my thought were or my ideas and we ended up making a good piece of work. I also collaborated with my teach asking him to help me with some of the work sheets that he handed out and it was a good skill to use.
One thing that I particularly enjoyed doing was making a small snow avalanche because it was very creative and awesome and it I enjoyed constructing it with my partner and sharing my ideas to what we could do or some suggestions to make it better. It was cool to see how an avalanche would work or how it would be triggered by a specific thing like rocks or trees or weak snow layers. One thing that I struggled with was reading some of the maps and answering some of Brian`s quiz questions, even though they were open note quizzes some questions were tricky to answer. We had lots of sheets with lots of information and we had to take a couple of notes, but out of all these notes and handouts gave us a lot of information and they were very helpful the whole time All I need to improve on is my testing skills and answering question skills, and I should be good but this was a very fun and interestin project.
