PROJECT REFLECTION:
Project Reflection :
The assignment for this project was to write a historical fiction story of your choice and my story was about my character Winston, finding out that his parents have AIDS and he is trying to make enough money trying to see them out of the city and he had to over come and challenges to meet his goal. For this project we started reading a book called Things Fall Apart and it was about imperialism and after that we stared to do more readings about imperialism. Once we got the meaning of imperialism down and seeing all of the examples we had to do country research. The country that I choose was Botswana and after we got of all information that we needed then we started tying what we new about Africa and the county in Africa we started writing our story's.

Take-aways And Enduring Understandings:
The take aways that I had during this project was learning more about Africa and what the word imperialism means with examples that I can now understand and use in my writings. I think that the danger of a single story is if you make a single story really good with information and showing and not telling then you could read it to an audience and catch their attention just like that because you made it so interesting then they would want to know more and convince them about your project. I think that the last legacies of imperialism in Africa is political parties and how the government is run in different counties. I think that the ingredients to make a strong story is getting research on what your going to write about and having a very convincing hook for the begging of the story to draw your audience and then just putting all of your ideas on to the paper even if they are bad and figuring out your story plot. Also having about two to three critic's then refining it and then doing a awesome job on showing and not telling. After you went through all of your critics and added them to your story then you can have a good conclusion to rape up your story.

The Writing:
What I am most proud of is that my writing has improved over the past year and that I did pretty well on showing and not telling and coming over of my fear of talking in front of a group of adults and classmates. I think the most challenging in this project was talking in front of a group of people because I was really nervous but I over came the challenge and read good. Another challenge was making the changes that I had in my story from the peer critics and Ally`s critics but it was very helpful at the end. A part that I would like to change about my story is doing more showing than telling in my story because I think that some of the parts in my story I did telling when I could have done showing. I think that this sentence shows growth. "He heard some birds in the tree and looked up. He noticed his parents room window and saw them standing in the window smiling. In that moment of their embrace, Winston decided he wanted to paint their portrait." I think it shows growth because I talked more about his parents and brought back his passions into the story.

The Art:
I choose to do the design of the cover that way because I thought that it would represent my story pretty well because it should a young man sitting looking and looking at the sun set with a tree behind him and its a silo wet. I think that my cover could represent my story because once you look at the cover it shows a young man sitting and my story is about a young man trying to see his parents out of the city. The back ground behind the young man also tells you about my story because it has a usual African sun set with an African tree behind him which would tell the reader that it is probably somewhere in Africa. I am proud of that I think that my cover represents my story pretty well and that I finished it on photo shop because I usually do hand art instead of computer art. The way that I would have liked to change my design on my book cover is making it look less stereotypical and also making the final touches on it more better because you could still see some parts were I goofed up.

Personal Growth:
The most important lesson that I learned during this project was persuasiveness because I had to preserver in putting all of my knowledge and creativity into this story and cover. I also think that doing all of the peer critics and practice speaking in front of the class and in front of a crowd of adults and classmates was pretty important because my goal for this class was to talk more in class and bond more with different classmates and I did during this project. The way that I did was by doing peer critics with different classmates than I usually work with and having them giving me good information on how I could improve my story and also me learning about their story and their perspective on imperialism. I think that I have grown in my writing skills and also my social skills because we did lots of writing and writing examples and also bonding as a whole class in this project and getting to read the classmates papers and giving them good critics and it was a great project to do, in my perspective that is and I would recommend it for next year.
