truth of war art project:
Nuclear Sunset
Painting, Pop Art
The art of war can have its highs and lows. Every living person gets impacted by the memories of war. I really like the contrast of thick lines and thin lines; I think that the background catches everyone's eyes at first sight, I thought that it would be a challenge and that gave me the inspiration to do my best on the whole portrait. It took me a few attempts to get the flow of the paint to combined. I choose to paint this painting because I wanted to open the viewers eyes on what could possibly haooen and to help bring them back to their consistence. To combat this idea. The background gives the picture a strong image allowing the citizens to also stand out. I've learned that once you get out of the left side of your brain and take your time, paintings can turn out very well. I went through many steps to refine and improve my piece of art.

Project Description:
For the fist project we did, the Vietnam war project and cold war. We got to learn about what actually happened at Vietnam and why it happened, same going for the cold war. We were able to do multiply little projects on the Vietnam war while being followed up with work sheets to help us get prepared for the Vietnam war veteran interview and the Gulf of Tonkin timed write. For the Gulf of Tonkin timed write we were able to read about the incident that happened that day and also about the little things that were involved with that indicative like interview and telephone conversations and interrogations to be able to support our reasoning on what actual happened at the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Another thing that we did was the "Things They Carried". This was a book made by Tim O`Brien and we got to read this book on about the versos war stories that all had many meaning to people and there were many questions that we got to answer about the book like what do think this meant or what do you predict will happen next and so forth. Once we were done reading this book and answered these questions we had a group seminar with our classmates and this seminar was about the book and about the questions we got to discuss about. I would say that all of these projects this semester were really helpful and worth doing thanks to our great teacher Ally. I think that all of these little projects really helped me prepare for a lot of things and I think that every project really helps me improve in a certain area were I need improvement.
The storycorps military voice initiative:
In this project we are beginning to learn about the Vietnam War, and what better way to learn about the Vietnam War than meeting a Vietnam War Veteran. Once we found out that we were going to meet a Veteran Allie Johnson gave us his contacting info, his name was John Tait. We called John and we arranged an interview with him at Animas High. I thought that it was pretty exciting to meet a real Vietnam War Veteran and exciting that he would be able to speak to us on how his experience. The challenging part was finding a classroom to do the interview in without distractions and arranging a good time that would be good for the John and for our school schedule. Creating interview questions would also be a huge challenge. Once we got all of the important things down then it started getting easier and less stressful. What I have learned about the Vietnam War from interviewing our Veteran was teamwork. I think about teamwork because John described that it's not just you out there, its not one person's fault if something went wrong. They were all a team and if they messed up then they would've messed up as a whole team. My partners may have found other meanings from John's interview but the thing that stood out to me was teamwork. I thought that getting to know the John was a great way to get the feeling of what happened in the Vietnam War, which help with the overall Vietnam War project.
the things they carried socratic seminar:
We had a seminar about the book that we read in class, “The Things They Carry”. During this seminar we split into two different seminar groups. Our teacher then Ally asked us a series of questions that we could answer by bouncing off each other's ideas on the question. I felt that I did very well in the group seminar by listening to my groups thoughts and ideas. My listening skills included maintaining eye contact with each of them while they were speaking and I continued to think on how I could relate their thoughts to my thoughts. I would like to work on his sharing my thoughts and ideas with the whole seminar group. I think that I shared some good ideas with the group and but I think that I could have shared more. During the seminar I wanted to talk and once I started someone else had something to say and I didn't want to ruin their thought process or interrupt what that they had to share with the group. Sometimes during group seminars it's hard to jump in without changing the topic or ruining someone's thought process. But once they are done telling their thoughts then I would share mine with the group. At the next seminar I'm going to talk about six to five times. I can achieve this goal is by staying on topic and being sure that I`m listening and to remember that there are no right or wrong answers in Ally's classroom.
What I learned from the book “The Things They Carry” that there are many ways to tell a war story, the trick is that each of these stories could be real or not real. In this book I heard lots of good connections and I also heard personal feelings and perspective. I thought that this book was really well written. The book spoke about the truth of war. Even though the war was done and over a soldier was a solider, no matter where you go a war was always be going on. The feeling of are sticks with you for a really long time and it's not something that you can forget with all of the crazy things that happen in war. The truth about the war can be heard by meeting someone and hearing their perspective and listening to their story about war closely. In listening you can hear the true meaning of a war story and find a mini lesson in the story. There are multiple ways that you could write a true war story. You could write these war stories in by using “Happening Truth” or “Story Truth”.

writing a true history of the gulf of tonkin incident:
or this project we got to learn about the Gulf of Tonkin and what happened during that time period. We then had to write an essay explaining what we felt actually happen from our perspective. The skills that I used on this essay was using historical learning skills. But the ones that I used were Contextualizing, Close Reading, Use Background Knowledge and Corroboration. The way that I used Contextualizing was by looking at when the incident happened and where it happened which gave me lots of information. When I was reading the background knowledge and getting information on the incident I used close reading because I was trying to find the the document message and what phrases the author used during this project. During this project I had to use my background knowledge on this essay because before this project we learned about a series of events that happened during that time period and I could tie those examples to the essay. When I was reading the back ground information on the Gulf of Tonkin I was asking myself lots of questions on why this happened and who was behind it all. I would write down my thoughts and later on find the answer, if I didn't find the answer then I would either ask Ally or one of my classmates. The thing that I learned about the nature of war is that there are certain things that could happen to you when you go to war like transformations. Your personal traits or emotional traits can be affected because the war will always be with you and you can't forget the experience of war. Like they couldn't forget the indent that happened to them with the torpedo. After that incident they made a decision that would change the way people would look at that incident.
gulf of tonkin timed write essay:
take-aways and enduring understanding:
The conclusion that I have come up with for the truth about war is, it is a confusing process that unfortunately cost lives. Multiply parties can be involved in decisions to start or end war. Multiple rights and wrongs can create a war. We may hear bad war stories and how certain things seen and experienced in war cannot be forgotten. You can find the truth by interviewing someone that was in war or you could do lots of background research, for example when we got to interview the Vietnam War Vietnam for our humanities project. What I learned about myself when I was looking for the truth was that finding the truth can be difficult and there is not always one answer as everyone has their perspective.
